Cindi's Project #2

by Cindi
(California)

Hi again,

I'm emailing again because I'm not entirely clear on how to respond on the website. Should I post a comment or a new entry and how do I attach additional photos?

Are we ready for this???? I removed the padding and burlap as you suggested. The springs on the back need some work as you'll see in the picture. There was not any webbing anywhere on the chair. Let me know what you think and if you need more photos.

I know this is a big project so if you don't have time to help me I'll understand........however, I'm ready to learn!

Thanks again,
Cindi

Progress check
by: Craig

Hi Cindi!

Thought I'd check in and see how the spring tying is going. Do you have any questions I can help you with?

I'm looking forward to the next step!

Twine
by: Craig

Jute twine is the best for spring tie and if you aren't able to find it let me know and we'll get you some.

There are some spring tie photos on the website if you want to look at those too!

Is there a special type of twine I should use to tie the springs with?

If you think you can tie it from the book, that would be great. Use the eight way tie.

spring tying
by: Cindi

Craig, I do have a Sunset Furniture & Upholstery book that shows spring tying with a four knot and an eight knot technique. The book is from 1975, but I'm not sure if that is the way it is still done.

You will need to tie the springs. We are working on away to upload pictures. So I can show you how.
